Founding Fish Network: Small Fish, Big Mission

Meet the Most Important Fish You've Never Heard of, and the Trusted Organization Protecting It.
A Non-Profit Protecting Marine Ecosystems Through Smarter Fishery Management
The Founding Fish Network (FFN) is a New Jersey-based nonprofit dedicated to protecting and restoring marine fisheries and the ecosystems that depend on them. Through science-backed advocacy, overfishing prevention, and habitat protection, FFN is hard at work rebuilding the abundance of fish species in the Atlantic Ocean.
The PK team sat down with Benson Chiles, FFN's Executive Director, to discuss the growing pressures facing East Coast fisheries, from overfishing to habitat disruption, and how smarter management strategies can restore balance to marine ecosystems.

“It’s not just about how many fish we need to leave in the water to maintain the population in perpetuity. It’s also about understanding how many fish we need to leave in the water to feed the whales, the dolphins, the striped bass, and the blue fish."
– Benson Chiles, Executive Director
